Impromptu Family Reunion

After my grandma's funeral in Evansville we headed up to Indianapolis to see my mom's side of the family.  We stayed with my other grandma and had a wonderful stay.  We arrived at her house just in time for dinner and were greeted by the smiling faces of my grandma, Aunt Kris, and Uncle Gary.  My Aunt Kelly arrived shortly after we did and we all enjoyed margaritas before dinner (well, all of us except for Mikey).  They had prepared a delicious feast of "comfort food" for us and I can't even begin to explain how good their warm welcome felt.  After a VERY stressful week it was nothing but smiles, hugs, and light hearted conversation with wonderful family.  We just felt loved...and that's exactly what we needed.  As an added perk, Aunt Kris and Aunt Kelly got to meet Mikey for the first time!

We enjoyed their company until late into the evening before we all had to crash.  Kris and Gary had driven in from about 90 minutes away and we were just plain exhausted.  Kris and Gary had plans for the weekend, so we said our goodbyes to them, but we planned a reunion with the rest of my mom's family for the following evening.  My mom's family is damn near impossible to explain so I'm not even going to try, but as a result of a rough start to life my mom has 6 siblings, so getting most of us together in the same location is nothing short of a small miracle.  Friday evening my Aunt Terry, Uncle Keith, and their 4 girls (Lindsey, Laura, Haley, and Ashley...as well as Lindsey's boyfriend) came over.  My Aunt Melanie joined later in the evening, and Aunt Kelly returned for a second night of fun.  Add that to my grandma, my mom, my sister, Mikey, and me and you have one FULL HOUSE!  It was awesome to see everyone and catch up on everyone's lives.  Not many of my family members had met Mikey, so now all of my aunts and uncles (save one that I can remember the last time I've seen) and most of my cousins have met him!  After losing my grandma, I felt so much pressure for the rest of my family to meet Mikey that this gathering lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.  It was a wonderful visit and exactly what we all needed before heading home.
